Yesterday’s public informational meeting regarding the health effects directly related to the operation of the Peace Bridge was a huge success! Roughly 30 concerned citizens attended the meeting at the Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church including numerous members of the media. The primary message of last night’s meeting was that there is a direct correlation between truck traffic volume on the bridge and hospitalization of residents for respiratory illnesses. The only solution to this terrifying health epidemic is to stop ALL commercial truck processing at the Peace Bridge, not expand it!

Last night’s meeting, which was sponsored by the Buffalo West Side Environmental Defense Fund, is the first of several planned to take place in the Elmwood Village. The next public informational meeting is scheduled to take place at the Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church during the week of October 22nd. The exact date and time of the next meeting will be released shortly. Please stay tuned to MoveThePlaza.com for more details as they become available.
