Since the beginning of the fight for the neighborhoods blighted by the Peace Bridge, there has been a growing outcry from the communities for justice. Organizations have grown out of this determination to preserve a historic neighborhood for future generations live in and enjoy. Still, in the face of such tangible opposition, the local, state, and Federal governments have, for the most part, failed to give these citizens and constituents the time of day.
There is justice waiting to be delivered to the men, women, and children who have had their health affected by the fumes of international traffic. There is justice waiting to be delivered to activists long ignored or side-lined by the Buffalo City Council and New York State leadership.
There is a great risk that justice will never be delivered. That human dignity and the voice of the people will continually be negated regardless of scientific evidence and studies to the contrary of state publications.
We risk losing our right to fight for what we believe in. We risk losing our right to obtain justice.
